Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of State for Foreign Trade, stressed that the selection of the UAE to host the 13th World Trade Organisation Ministerial Conference at the start of 2024 is in line with the approach of the UAE’s leadership and its government’s strategy aimed at promoting foreign trade.
In his statement, Al Zeyoudi said that the meeting aims to ensure the free trade of goods and services around the world and discuss the future of global trade.
He added that the UAE is looking forward to hosting the representatives of 164 countries, as well as of the customs and the private sector, in the first quarter of 2024.
The WTO has experienced many challenges over the past 20 years, and its conference held in Geneva this year included positive messages on preparing to address pandemics and cancelling restrictions on food exports, he further added. The coming meeting will discuss the restructuring of the international organisation, removing trade barriers and digital trade.
The government has boosted foreign trade, underscored by figures recorded in the coming months, through the adoption of laws that support investments, Al Zeyoudi said in conclusion.
