Sarah Michelle Gellar revealed that she and Alyson Hannigan had ‘heated moments’ on the set of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
The 44-year-old actress starred as the iconic Buffy Summers from 1997 to 2003 alongside the How I Met Your Mother star, 47, who played Willow Rosenberg.
It has been 25 years since the first episode premiered, and from a viewer’s perspective, it looked like the tight-knit castmates had a close relationship on and off-screen.
However, the Scooby-Doo star revealed there were times when things weren’t so ‘rosy’ in Evan’s Ross Katz’s new book, Into Every Generation a Slayer is Born: How Buffy Staked Our Heart.
Reflecting on the good and bad memories, she said: ‘Look, we worked really hard hours. We were young, we had ups and downs. Everybody had arguments.’
Turning the focus on co-stars Alyson and David Boreanaz (Angel), she added: ‘There were times where David could be a handful.
‘Nobody gets along all the time. And Alyson and I had moments. There’s no question. But you’re young.’
Sarah – who is married to fellow actor Freddie Prinze Jr – wished she handled certain situations ‘differently’ and admitted she ‘resented’ the rest of the cast who didn’t ‘work all the time.’
It has been more than two decades since we saw Sarah balancing her high school life while battling vampires and demons.
Celebrating the milestone on Instagram, she posted a picture of herself beside the official clapboard on set and the promo poster.
‘25 years ago today I had the honour to introduce the world to my version of Buffy Anne Summers,’ Sarah captioned the post, dedicating it to viewers.
‘It was an uphill battle. A mid season replacement, on a new network based on a movie, that was by no means a giant success.
‘But then there was you. The fans. You believed in us. You made this happen. You are the reason 25 years later we are still celebrating.
‘So today we celebrate you as well. #wwbd.’
