The world fell in love with Regé-Jean Page and Phoebe Dynevor as Daphne Bridgerton and the Duke of Hastings in the first series of Bridgerton.
However, the upcoming second season of the hit Netflix period drama will be focused on a different Bridgerton sibling’s quest to find love in 19th century London.
So what does this mean for Simon Basset and his wife as the Regency romance series continues?
Here’s what all those involved in the show have said so far…
Will Daphne and the Duke be in season 2 of Bridgerton?
Sorry folks, but we are going to get a lot less Duke and Duchess of Hastings action in season two of Bridgerton.
Page broke the internet — and hearts — when he confirmed his Simon wasn’t returning to Bridgerton.
Page only signed a one-year contract and has moved on to new projects.
However, the Duke and Duchess are still very much a part of the Bridgerton world, even if we don’t see as much of them.
Show creator Chris Van Dusen told Entertainment Weekly: ‘Daphne remains a vital part of our story. She’s now a devoted wife and, of course, still a loyal sister to her seven siblings.’
Dusen said that Daphne’s main role will be guiding big brother Anthony Bridgerton through his love life.
Dusen said: ‘It’s a bit of a reverse of their season one dynamic, in terms of Anthony sticking his nose in Daphne’s business. Now Daphne gets to stick her nose in his.”
Phoebe Dynevor told Entertainment Weekly: ‘Daphne has become the adult of the family. She’s found what she’s looking for — she’s had a baby, she’s a wife and mother. There’s a real confidence and womanhood about her this season.
‘She’s running the family because she’s the one who’s settled now. She is the rock of the siblings in this season, which is quite nice to play.
‘Daphne’s leading the way in terms of knowing what love is, what it means, and what marriage means, and she’s trying to pass on that knowledge to Anthony.’
Additionally, Dyevnor teased that the Duke will be ‘referred to a lot’ in season two.
Speaking to The Wrap, the actor said: ‘I think he’ll definitely be referred to a lot,’ adding that she believes ‘we’ll see the baby’ – after Daphne gave birth to her and Simon’s son at the end of season one.’
Bridgerton is based on a book series written by Julia Quinn.
Each of the eight books is centered on a different Bridgerton sibling – and so fans assume that each book will be covered by a season, with each and every Bridgerton sibling getting their turn in the spotlight.
Season on revolved around Daphne, and season two will be based on Anthony.
Fingers crossed that the show gets renewed for a third season, where another sibling can get their shot of finding true love.
Bridgerton season two comes to Netflix on March 25.
