Pakistan’s Team Director, Mickey Arthur, has quickly stepped up to protect left-arm pacer Shaheen Afridi amidst concerns raised by a social media user regarding Afridi’s intense workload during the current T20 Vitality Blast.

Playing for the Nottinghamshire Outlaws, Afridi has participated in seven matches within a brief ten-day period, achieving commendable stats of 10 wickets from 27 overs at an average of 24.5 and an economy rate of 9.1.

Responding to concerns about Afridi’s demanding schedule, Arthur provided a rationale on Twitter, emphasizing that Afridi had only bowled 28 overs across ten days, a load he considers manageable.

Arthur even implied that Afridi should escalate his workload to ready himself for Test cricket, underlining that the team management was continuously observing his development.

“He has bowled 28 overs in 10 days!! If anything he needs to get his loads up to play Test cricket. It is being monitored all the time,” Arthur noted in his Twitter post.

This statement comes ahead of Pakistan’s two-match Test series against Sri Lanka scheduled for July this year.
