The captain of the Pakistan cricket team, Babar Azam, and wicketkeeper-batsman, Mohammad Rizwan, participated in a ceremony at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi to commemorate Youm-e-Takreem Shuhada-e-Pakistan (Pakistan’s Martyrs Reverence Day).
This solemn occasion serves as a tribute to the heroes who laid down their lives in the defence of the nation and its citizenry.
Army Chief General Asim Munir was the principal dignitary at the ceremony. The commemorative event was attended by an illustrious assembly of guests, including Gen (retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa, former army chief; Gen (retd) Nadeem Raza, former chairman of the joint chiefs of staff committee; eminent Islamic scholar Mufti Muneeb ur Rehman, and various representatives from law enforcement, academia, and other societal sectors.
In honour of the Youm-e-Takreem Shuhada-e-Pakistan, a series of events including Quran recitation sessions and collective prayers are being held across Pakistan.

Moreover, special ceremonies will take place at monuments and memorials dedicated to these national heroes to recognise their valiant sacrifices and pay respects to their memory. The presence of the national cricket stars, Azam and Rizwan, further underscored the importance of this day in Pakistan’s national consciousness.
