Pep Guardiola has claimed that Robert Lewandowski would be a good fit for Barcelona as the striker continues to push for a move away from Bayern Munich.

Lewandowski has repeatedly expressed his desire to leave the German giants this summer, most recently telling OnetSport: ‘Something has died in me, I want to leave Bayern for more emotions in my life.

‘Loyalty and respect are more important than work. The best way is to find a solution together.’

While Chelsea have been linked with a move for the 33-year-old, it is Barcelona who are the favourites for his signature, but it is unclear whether the La Liga club have the financial power to sign the Poland captain who has one-year left on his contract.

If Lewandowski were to move though, former Barcelona boss Guardiola is convinced he would be a success, having previously coached the player at Bayern for three seasons.

The Manchester City manager told Sport: ‘I have no idea, to be honest, but would he be a good fit?

‘We are talking about Lewandowski. He would adapt perfectly well anywhere.

‘But I don’t know if Barcelona can sign him because of their financial situation or if Bayern will let him leave.’

Reports suggest that Barcelona have agreed terms with Lewandowski and will offer Bayern €25million (£21.3m) to prize away their star striker but Julian Nagelsmann’s side plan to reject any and all bids for the player who has scored 344 goals in 375 games for the club.

Chelsea’s pursuit of Lewandowski will rely on how much money new owner Todd Boehy can provide Thomas Tuchel in the summer, although any deal for a new forward is reliant on moving club-record signing Romelu Lukaku on.

The Belgian is keen on returning to Inter Milan, but the terms of his transfer will take time to thrash out owing to his £325,000-a-week wages.
