Darren Bent believes Youri Tielemans would ‘fit nicely’ at Arsenal amid speculation the Leicester City midfielder could move to the Emirates this summer.

Tielemans, 25, has just a year left on his contract and is thought to be available for a fee of around £25million.

The Gunners are seeking to bolster their midfield options ahead of next season, with reports suggesting Mikel Arteta is targeting Tielemans due to the Belgian’s reasonable price.

Bent, the former Tottenham striker, thinks Tielemans would represent a shrewd signing for Arsenal with his technical qualities matching the north London side’s style of play.

Speaking on talkSPORT, he said: ‘If he was to leave, I would like him to come to Arsenal. I really like him, Youri Tielemans.

‘I think he is a very good player, he starts in that Belgium team as well. He has got good quality to him. I think he fits in at Arsenal nicely, I really do.’

Since arriving at Leicester three years ago, Tielemans has emerged as one of the Premier League’s top midfielders.

In his first two full seasons, he helped Leicester to successive fifth-place finishes in the league.

Meanwhile, he scored the winning goal for the club in their 1-0 FA Cup triumph over Chelsea last year.

The Gunners are looking at midfield reinforcements after struggling to cover the absence of Thomas Partey last season.

Qualification to the Europa League also means Arteta needs a bigger squad to cope with the extra games.

After evaluating the club’s finances, the Spaniard has indicated he will need to be prudent in the transfer market.

He said: ‘We are going to have certain resources, not unlimited resources, some resources. And with our resources, we have to play and do what we have to do in the best possible way.

‘We don’t know what the rest will have but obviously it will be challenging because now it is not a top three, it is a top eight, but that is why we have to find a way to do again what we did last summer.’
