BBC has unveiled a short teaser trailer for the brand-new drama SAS: Rogue Heroes, starring Connor Swindells and Jack O’Connell.

Fans are preparing to so goodbye to Thomas Shelby (Cillian Murphy) and the gang as Peaky Blinders will be airing its final episode on Sunday, however, creator Steven Knight has treated us with another series for us to tune into.

The upcoming six-part series is an adaptation of Ben Macintyre’s best-selling book offering a dramatised account of how the SAS was formed during the Second World War, having been granted access to secret SAS archives.

Connor – who stars as Adam Groff in Netflix’s Sex Education – plays eccentric young officer David Stirling in the programme while Jack (Skins) stars as Lieutenant Colonel Paddy Mayne, who was one of the founding members of the SAS.

The promo takes us back to 1941 Cairo, Egypt, and introduces the audience to the ‘band of oddities, gentlemen, and pirates.’

The trailer also shows the soldiers battling in scorching heat, with one army member telling the prospective members of the SAS: ‘I understand you gentleman are very good at killing people.’

The official synopsis reads: ‘Convinced that traditional commando units don’t work, he creates a radical plan that flies in the face of all accepted rules of modern warfare.

‘He fights for permission to recruit the toughest, boldest and brightest soldiers for a small undercover unit that will create mayhem behind enemy lines.

‘More rebels than soldiers, Stirling’s team are every bit as complicated, flawed, and reckless as they are astonishingly brave and heroic.’

Steven – who serves as creator and executive producer for SAS: Rogue Heroes – revealed it was a ‘privilege to work on a project which tells the story of a renegade band of soldiers who used wit and imagination,’ in times of trouble.
