With 13 top 10 singles and multiple gongs under her belt, Rita Ora still wouldn’t consider herself famous.

The 31-year-old singer rose to fame in 2012 with her debut single R.I.P and has collaborated with the biggest artists in the industry, from Charli XCX to Ed Sheeran.

If that wasn’t enough, she’s landed a judging role on two of ITV’s biggest shows, The X Factor and The Masked Singer.

However, the star revealed that when people pose a question relating to fame, she brands her celebrity status as a ‘very weird concept.’

During the latest issue of Harper’s Bazaar’s Australia, Rita said: ‘People ask me all the time, “what is fame like?” and it’s really hard to explain fame if you’re not in it.

In spite of the spotlight that has followed the songwriter over the past decade, Rita claimed that some are often surprised by her ‘down to earth’ persona, and the intense attention ‘comes with the territory.’

‘I don’t really think about it as a reality… I don’t bring it home with me. I love to think of myself as a normal person,’ she added.

‘You have to also realise what you signed up for and pick the places where you’d like to keep them private.’

While fans recognise Rita as the hitmaker behind bangers such as Let You Love Me and Body On Me, the musician is no stranger to the screen, big or small.

Her previous acting credits include playing herself in episodes of Empire and 90210, along with her notable role as Christian Grey’s sister Mia in the Fifty Shades franchise.

Last month it was announced that Disney’s Beauty and the Beast prequel series had been put on hold indefinitely, days after the R.I.P singer revealed she was joining the cast.

Production on the spin-off had been due to start in spring but was later moved to summer, with reports suggesting it has been delayed indefinitely due to difficulties with scheduling for the cast and other creative aspects.

The eight-episode series had been planned to follow Gaston and LeFou before the events of Beauty and the Beast, providing an origin story for the duo.

Disney Plus are reported to have decided to put the production on hold due to scheduling challenges as some of the cast had other commitments coming up, according to The Hollywood Reporter

Harper’s Bazaar Australia’s April issue is available on newsstands nationwide on March 24.
