Saturday Night Takeaway fans might be in for a bit of a disappointment this evening as the show is temporarily off-air.

The weekly variety show hosted by Ant and Dec is cancelled this week due to the Six Nations taking over its usual slot.

Viewers will see Ireland play Scotland at 4pm before France take on England in the final match of this year’s championship, beginning at 7.15pm.

However, the show is on a break for one week only and will be returning next Saturday at its usual time of 7pm.

Ant and Dec reminded fans there was no Saturday Night Takeaway this week, tweeting: ‘Remember there’s no show this weekend as we pass Saturday night over to the rugby.

‘But they’re only borrowing it! We’ll be keeping your Takeaway warm until it all kicks off again in studio next Saturday 26th March.’

If you can’t go a whole week without a fix of Ant and Dec, Channel 5 have scheduled a special show, Ant & Dec’s 30 Greatest Moments at 7.30pm to give viewers something to ease the pain of missing Saturday Night Takeaway this week.

Despite getting ample warning on last week’s show, viewers were still disappointed that there is no show tonight.

They took to Twitter to write: ‘Who got excited that It’s Saturday and then realised #SaturdayNightTakeaway isn’t on tonight’ and ‘My weekend begins tomorrow at 16:30 however there is no #SaturdayNightTakeaway @itvtakeaway @SNTRainbow what a disappointing weekend ahead. Apart from #F1 #BahrainGP is on.’

Others added: ‘I’m sad that’s there’s no @itvtakeaway tomorrow evening, instead there’s rugby on instead’ and ‘happy #SaturdayNightTakeaway da— oh christ it’s not on tonight I’m p**sed.’

Saturday Night Takeaway returns on March 26 at 7pm on ITV.
