The Apprentice candidate Brittany Carter has closed the door to any romance rumours between her and co-star Nick Showering.

The hotelier, 25, had made it to the all-girl final four, but was unfortunately booted out of the process after her product was ripped apart by Lord Sugar’s aide, Mike Souter.

Nick lost his chance to become Lord Sugar’s next business partner a few weeks before, after failing to impress during a racing-themed corporate away day task at Silverstone.

Since losing out to Harpreet and Kathryn to make it to this year’s final, Brittany has spoken out about other aspects of the show that were the talk of the town amongst viewers.

Speaking about romance rumours between her and the 31-year-old finance manager, Brittany told The Sun: ‘We are really really good friends.

‘There’s no romance there, despite what people think.

‘We’re really close. Nick was one of the people I spent the most time with in the house because we just vibe off each other so well.

‘He’s so funny, and I think I’m really funny, so we get on so well together.

‘But it’s just a friendship, to set the record straight.’

Brittany has also ‘set the record straight’ about the mortifying moment when Mike critiqued the taste of her protein-infused alcohol drink, calling it ‘chalky’.

She told Metro.co.uk and other press of emotions running high: ‘It wasn’t easy at all. I remember I said to myself before, don’t cry on TV, don’t cry on TV. I got 10 weeks and then I fell at the last hurdle.

‘With Mike, it is very, very testing, because he will pose very difficult questions, and he will not allow you to work your way around the answer. He wants you to be direct.

‘It’s almost like he puts you in a position where he knows that you’ve got a flaw and there isn’t anything that you can say and it makes it particularly difficult.

‘When he had made a recipe for the drink, I was so nervous, but it didn’t taste even like what my recipe was!

‘I don’t know why I didn’t say that,’ she added.

She went on to share of her tears: ‘The reason I was upset was that I’m so passionate about it and it’s going to be shown that it doesn’t taste nice and that’s the most important thing.’

Brittany wasn’t the only one to fail at impressing in the brutal episode, as elsewhere, Stephanie Affleck – who proposed to set up an online second-hand children’s designer site – was the second to be fired last week.

The Apprentice concludes on Thursday at 9pm on BBC One.
