Richard Rawson has been busy since N-Dubz disbanded 11 years ago (Yes, it’s been 11 years).

The rapper, best-known by stage name Fazer, has a solid career both behind the scenes as a music producer and a solo artist.

Fazer’s newest single, Tears, was released in February to a majorly positive reception; the emotional track pays tribute to lives lost in recent years, both from Covid-19 and murders on the streets of London.

But while his solo career is going strong, the musician is now turning his sights to something completely different.

Speaking to Metro.co.uk, the Give It Away musician revealed he’s planning a career move to producing film soundtracks – and he’s got his eye on a big one.

‘I really want to start looking to venture into doing movie soundtracks,’ he admitted.

‘I feel like I could do the next Avatar soundtrack!’

He spoke eagerly about his ‘next venture,’ and revealed the goal is to be ‘the next Hans Zimmer.’

The rapper was inspired by musician and producer Labrinth, who has been lauded for his creation of soundtrack to critically acclaimed series Euphoria.

And Fazer thought to himself: ‘I could easily do stuff like this in my sleep as well.’

‘So yeah, I thought that’s gonna be the next step, for myself, the next chapter for Fazer.’

Fazer produced all of N-Dubz and his own music, has collaborated with the likes of Jessie J and Rita Ora, and arranged the first-ever Urban Classic BBC Proms, and says he understands music of all genres, not just the ones he makes himself.

‘I understand how to make emotions through music,’ the father-of-one said, revealing he’s eager to take a step towards orchestral music.

‘Even with Tears, I made sure it had like an emotional sort of feel to it, with minor chords… predominantly sad chords.

‘If you use those chords it brings out emotions, if you use happy chords it brings out different emotions… If you ever watched a movie without music in it it would be so weird.’

Fans will have to be patient before they hear the I Swear rapper’s first step to becoming the next Hans Zimmer, however, as he admits his diary is ‘crazy right now’ thanks to juggling a busy career and fatherhood.

But he has his eye on a timeframe in the ‘next six months’ – which isn’t that long to wait.

‘As far as running a production company, my solo career as an artist, everything else that goes on behind that,’ things are just a bit mad at the minute.

‘I’ve got a fully-fledged household and a home, I’ve got a nine-year-old daughter and my missus that I’ve been with for 10 years..’

‘So the next six months will be busy, but after that I’ll start looking at going in to the movie side of stuff.’

Fazer’s plans are definitely exciting, but it means those hoping for an N-Dubz reunion will have to set that dream aside for the minute.

Rumours began swirling at the beginning of 2022 that the trio were planning to make new music, having previously said they would get back together when the time is right.

But unless Dappy and Tulisa plan to do the vocals on the Avatar 2 soundtrack, it looks like that was simply false hope. Ouch.

Fazer’s new single, Tears, is out now.
