Ed Sheeran had viewers sobbing from the start of the Pride of Britain awards as he surprised winner Harmonie-Rose Allen with a karaoke duet.

The Bad Habits singer, 30, surprised quadruple amputee Harmonie-Rose, seven, who had battled meningitis, at a special party thrown in her homour.

Harmonie-Rose was told she was the child of courage winner at this year’s Pride of Britain awards  before Ed popped up to make the day extra memorable.

The pair performed Perfect and Shivers together on a karaoke machine in scenes which had viewers sobbing just minutes into the show.

They tweeted: ‘Okay, I lasted 6 minutes. Harmonie-Rose and Ed Sheeran tipping me over the edge, what an inspirational little girl.’

Others added: ‘Awww what a amazing little lady. Her face when Ed Sheeran came out’ and ‘Ed Sheeran really needs to become ambassador of kindness.’

Harmonie-Rose had lost parts of her legs and arms and the tip of her nose after barring meningitis as a baby, and her case was so severe she was given just a 10% chance of survival.

The courageous child has since raised over £76,000 for Meningitis Now in the first lockdown by running, singing, drawing, swimming and jumping, six activities doctors had said she’d never been able to do.

This year, she also scaled a climbing wall 100 time fan ran 500m on her blades in a bid to raise £20,000 for an accessible playground.

Hollie told The Mirror of meeting Ed Sheeran: ‘I can’t really believe it. When he came out, I was thinking, “Is this really him?”

‘He was really kind and I just loved him. I really love Ed Sheeran because he has an amazing singing voice. I sing Ed’s songs all the time in the car. I know all the words.

‘I love music a lot because my name’s Harmonie and I just love singing. We sang together on the karaoke – Shivers and Perfect, which is my favourite song. He said I was a better singer than him.’
