Planning your watch list for the week? You’ll want to add these shows.

First up, there’s the hotly anticipated Netflix dramatisation of the life of former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick, narrated by the man himself.

To continue on the sporting theme, hard-hitting drama Swagger! takes a look at the drama both on and off the basketball court.

For something more romantic, join the cast of One Night on a 10-episode long blind date around Oslo.

Or rack up your culture points even more with Polish crime drama Angel of Death.

‘Taking a knee’ has become a global phenomenon, the most powerful racial symbol since the black power salute at the 1968 Olympics. But what of the man behind the protest?

Former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick is front and centre as the narrator of this dramatisation of his life story, which stars an impressive Jaden Michael as the young Colin, a high-school sports star who finds his talent knocked back at every turn.

Available Friday.

Apple TV Plus

Swagger!

Isiah Hill stars in this sport drama

The hierarchies that rule American sport are put under the microscope
here too, though this time it’s basketball that’s in the firing line in a hard-hitting drama that looks at the hoops young black men have to jump through to play.

Executive producer is Brooklyn Nets star Kevin ‘KD” Durant, one of the game’s big-money earners.

Available Friday.

All 4

Angel of Death

Poland’s turn for dark crime drama

Why not thrill out Halloween with a spot of serial killing, Polish style? Anna Cieślak stars as police commissioner Agnieszka Polkowska, whose abrasive relationship with a provincial counterpart threatens to let a perverse killer evade justice.

In a brave twist of the genre, we know who the killer is early on in proceedings – the thrill of this one is all in the chase.

Available Friday.

Britbox

One Night

MyAnna Buring stars in this Scandi love story (Picture: Fedent)

A blind date that stretches over 10 episodes? That’s the challenging set-up for this drama that pairs MyAnna Buring, star of Ripper Street and The Salisbury Poisonings, and Ragnorok’s Gísli Örn Garðarsson as a pair looking for love but burned by past experience.

It’s set in Oslo but this English language version was filmed in parallel with a Norwegian/Swedish take.

Available tomorrow.
