WWE Hall of Famer Edge has shown off the effects of his brutal Hell In A Cell match against Seth Rollins.

The legendary star went to war with his rival inside one of pro wrestling’s most formidable structures as they culminated their trilogy of bouts – which in turn capped off a seven year-long storyline – in an instant classic at Crown Jewel on Thursday evening.

Not surprisingly, the Rated R Superstar looked to have suffered during the clash, and a picture uploaded on social media has shown the impact it took on his body.

In a picture shared on the official WWE Instagram account, Edge’s back was covered in cuts, scars and welts.

Referencing the AGE-year-old wrestler’s catchphrase, the post was captioned: ‘#EarnYourScars #WWECrownJewel @edgeratedr (sic)’

Absolutely brutal.

Meanwhile, he made sure to shine a light on referee Jessika Carr, who was the official for each of the three matches between Edge – who has been in phenomenal shape since his sensational in-ring return – and Seth and made history in a number of ways.

Sharing a photo of himself with Jess backstage and another of her stood between both men in the cell, he wrote: ‘I’m in the midst of my 22hr travel back home after #crownjewel and Hell in a Cell. More on that in a future post.

‘But I wanted to take a moment to acknowledge something that may have gone unnoticed to some. Last night @wweladyrefjess refereed our match. Many firsts in doing that.

‘The first woman to referee in Saudi Arabia. MASSIVE. Actually trying to move the needle in a positive direction. The first woman to referee Hell in a Cell. MASSIVE.

‘She was in there for every part of this insane trilogy that I’m so proud of. Summerslam. Madison Square Garden. Crown Jewel.’

Edge admitted he ‘can’t wait’ to tell his own daughters just how significant Jess was to the success of the three matches, and he pointed to the fact she’d getting these opportunities because ‘she kicks so much ass’.

He continued: ‘She’s knocking down barriers and I couldn’t be more proud of her. And she got these gigs not because she’s a woman. It’s because she kicks so much ass at her job.

‘Many more milestones to come. When my daughters watch these matches someday I can’t wait to explain how important you were to all of this. Kudos Jess. Keep making us smile.’

Jess was clearly moved by the kind words, and was quick to responded on the emotional Instagram post.

She replied: ‘To have your respect is more than anything I could ever imagine when first entering this industry. Your kindness, professionalism and talent is beyond appreciated. Thank you so, so much!’

In a lengthy post on her own account, Jess went into more detail about how ‘special’ the night was, and her thoughts about being the official for the entire trilogy, while also taking charge for Xavier Woods’ King of the Ring triumph.

She wrote: ‘Any time you go out there you are trusted with something special. I was trusted by WWE and trusted by @edgeratedr and @wwerollins not just once but three times. I was lucky to get one, but all three of these matches!? Summerslam. Madison Square Garden. Crown Jewel.

‘So thankful and blessed. Then to cap it off with Xavier Woods winning the King of the Ring Tournament! I got to work with Finn again too before he went over the Raw!’
