James Corden is reportedly on course to becoming the UK’s highest earning TV personality, after signing a two-year £15million deal with US TV chiefs.

The 43-year-old comedian’s deal with CBS expires next year, after six years of presenting The Late Late Show.

However with popular skits like Carpool Karaoke bringing in millions of views online, bosses are keen to keep him as host for another two years, and if the deal comes through, the presenter will surpass duo Ant and Dec as Britain’s highest paid TV star.

A source told The Sun: ‘CBS has no plan B, James is their guy and who they see staying with them.

‘He is one of the faces of the network, he fronts a massively successful show and drives lots of traffic to them online. The figures that are being discussed are around £15million for two years.

‘That may sound a lot, but James brings so much to the table for CBS. Unlike his rivals, his online segments, including Carpool Karaoke and Crosswalk Musical, are huge global web hits, making huge revenues on top.’

James has hosted the show since 2014, when he took over from Scottish comedian Craig Ferguson.

It comes after James revealed that he and his family are missing living in the UK last year – so much so, that he could quit The Late Late Show when his contract expires and move back.

The Gavin And Stacey co-creator relocated to the US in 2012, but over the course of the coronavirus pandemic has been feeling homesick for England.

The star said at the time: ‘I have a couple of years to go on this contract. Ending the show will always be a bigger family decision than a professional one.

‘It will be about people at home who we miss very, very much, who we are homesick for.

‘I also feel like my wife and I have three young children, and they are three young grandchildren that we’ve taken away from people.’
