Lorraine Kelly admitted she’s still ‘hesitant’ to see her parents even though she’s been double-vaccinated, during her self-titled show today.

Even with both doses of the vaccine, jabbed people are not 100 percent immune from catching Covid or passing it on but are much less likely than someone unvaccinated with both jabs.

During today’s Lorraine, the host and Dr Hilary discussed a new device being trialled which measures how infectious someone is even if they’ve tested negative or previously tested positive and then become negative.

‘It’s promising because it’s similar to the promise offered by a universal vaccine so a vaccine that works against every single variant, something that’s on the core of virus rather than on the spike protein,’ explained Dr Hilary.

He added: ‘We are getting to a place where we’re better deal with the virus, not just in testing but preventing people to self-isolate.’

Praising the potentially game-changing device created by UK firm Vattic, Lorraine said it would be ‘brilliant’ to know that information.

‘I’m hesitant, even though I’ve been double-vaxxed, about seeing my parents, you’re a bit wary,’ she said.

‘But if you know that’s you’re ok, that’s absolutely wonderful.’

In the UK alone, 44.9millon people have received both doses of the vaccine, meaning 66.9 percent of the population is double jabbed.

Last month, Lorraine celebrated her mum, Anne’s, 80th birthday but revealed at the time her father wasn’t fit enough to travel.

Lorraine airs weekdays at 9am on ITV.
