EastEnders star Nina Wadia has said she is creating different personas to get into character for each of her performances on Strictly Come Dancing.
The soap star, 52, admits creating a different character for each dance helps with the storytelling and helps her perform to the best of her ability.
Week one saw her channel Valentina for her sassy samba to Mi Gente by J Balvin, Willy William and Beyoncè.
For this week’s tango, she’ll transform into Sasha.
‘I did learn something last week, which is I think I need a story,’ the comedian shared.
‘As an actor I think if I have a story to tell, I think I somehow will just dance better.
‘So I’m just telling the story. Instead of with lines, I will be telling it with dance. I find that easier.’
After getting off to a flying start with a score of 24 last week, Nadia said her pro partner Neil Jones ‘came up with a story for this week which is really fun.’
Having fun seems to be her main goal, as she strives to be ‘relaxed’ and bring audience members ‘along for the ride.’
However, training sounds to be very physically demanding, as Nadia jokes: ‘I don’t think there’s a part of my anatomy that doesn’t hurt.’
Understandably, she has swollen and blistered feet and even ‘blisters on her blisters.’
She confessed there’s ‘nothing comfortable’ about being a Strictly contestant, but the real joy comes from ‘actually performing.’
Nadia is also reaping the benefits dancing is having on her physical health, enjoying being ‘a bit more toned’ and ‘having a body again.’
Nadia and Neil will take on the tango to Would I Lie To You? by Eurythmics this weekend.
Strictly Come Dancing continues at 6.45pm on Saturday on BBC One.
