This Morning’s Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby left viewers baffled today after spending the morning surrounded by nature, as they moved from the studio to the forest.
The pair were joined by Alison Hammond in the show’s very own wood, but left fans very confused after taking part in a spot of tree hugging.
Alison was on hand to chat to nature expert Jim Tubbs-Galley about the mental health benefits of the great outdoors, celebrating the programme’s green projects.
But it’s safe to say viewers won’t be taking their advice and hugging trees any time soon.
‘Put your arms up, pretend your arms are stretching up like part of the tree,’ Jim told Alison in the strange segment.
As the presenter got up close and personal to the tree, Jim added: ‘Feel the energy, your chakras. You are part of the tree, your chakras, your third eye.’
‘I’m really connecting with the tree to be fair. It’s just nice to hold onto something isn’t it, when you haven’t got a boyfriend,’ Alison joked.
Phillip and Holly also got involved, and looked like they were truly connecting with nature.
‘I am thoroughly into this,’ Phillip said.
‘Can you feel it?’ Holly asked.
‘I can feel it, big time,’ he replied.
The presenters might have been into it, but fans were less sure.
‘What on earth have I just switched on too,’ one bemused viewer wrote.
‘Tad confused why #ThisMorning is being presented in the woods…!’ another said.
The special episode saw the team discuss the benefits of returning to nature on our physical and mental well being.
Dr Sara Kayat joined them in the woods to speak about the impact that getting out in the fresh air can have, which many rediscovered during the pandemic.
This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
