Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been spotted using the same bodyguard that has looked after Taylor Swift, during their recent visit to New York.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were seen being flanked by the security detail during their short trip to the Big Apple, led by a former NYPD officer known as Jimmy, who also looks after Taylor.

Jimmy as well as another man in the security team often look after the singer, though it is not known whether Meghan and Harry hired him from a company for their trip or were loaned the guards by Taylor herself.

The security officers were seen at the Upper East Side hotel where Harry and Meghan were staying every day of their trip, coordinating their protection outside.

Jimmy is famous for guarding Taylor’s apartment, which has often been targeted by stalkers of the singer hoping to get a glimpse of the star.

In a 2014 profile by Rolling Stone, it was revealed that the apartment building only has one entrance which was often guarded by Jimmy, who would unlock the door for residents and visitors.

The apartment block also housed the likes of Orlando Bloom and Steven Soderbergh, but the other celebrity residents were used to dealing with Jimmy while trying to get into their own properties.

He said at the time: ‘Most of the neighbours know what’s what by now.’

Meghan and Harry, meanwhile, arrived in New York on Wednesday when they were photographed having a drink at their luxury hotel, before visiting the World Trade Center as well as the 9/11 memorial on Thursday.

The pair also visited a school in Harlem and ate at a soul food restaurant during their trip, before speaking at the Global Citizen concert on Saturday night, where they called for more coronavirus vaccines to be made available for developing nations.
