Brad Pitt was reportedly infatuated with late TV star Paula Yates.

The Moneyball actor met the presenter, who died of a drugs overdose 21 years ago aged 41, when she moved to Los Angeles with then-boyfriend Michael Hutchence in 1995 and the 57-year-old star often flirted with her and even gave her a ring as a token of affection.

Her friend and former PR, Gerry Agar Fennell, told the Daily Mail’s Eden Confidential column: ‘Paula said Brad gave her the ring as a “token of his infatuation”.

‘She told me there was a lot of flirting and he told her he adored her. I only remember Paula giggled about their time together.’

In her 2018 autobiography, My Thoughts Exactly, Smile singer Lily Allen revealed she was one of the last people to see Yates alive, after spotting her at a London restaurant when working as a 15-year-old waitress, having quit school.

Detailing the encounter in her book, Lily said: ‘[The restaurant was] where everyone groovy in the media met each other to exchange gossip, and network over lunch and drinks and dinner.’

The pop star recalled that she was ‘eating what would turn out to be one of her last meals — certainly her last in public — before she overdosed on heroin’.

Lily spoke to police officers as part of their investigation into Yates’ death and remembered: ‘She was joined at lunch by this guy that we all knew was a heroin dealer. They’d left together. It was the saddest sight.’

Meanwhile, Brad recently admitted he has become ‘crankier’ now he’s older and when it comes to fashion, his attitude towards style is ‘no style’ as he favours comfort over anything else.

Speaking about his fashion sense with Esquire, he explained: ‘You get older, you get crankier, and comfort becomes more important. I think it’s as simple as that.’

The Once Upon A Time… In Hollywood star, who finds it ‘too exhausting’ to follow trends and ‘despises’ billboards, likes to pare things right down nowadays.

He added: ‘I like monochrome, without it being a uniform. I like simplicity.

‘I like the details in the stitching, the way it feels. If anything, that’s the only divining rod I have.’
