Kate Lawler has revealed she was rushed to hospital on Tuesday following a mystery illness, describing the ordeal as a ‘wake up call’.

The Big Brother winner, who recently recalled how she was forced to ‘leave’ her baby daughter during the lowest point in her postnatal depression to prevent doing something she’d regret, shared news of her A&E dash on social media.

‘Yesterday was pretty strange,’ Kate penned on her Instagram Story alongside a selfie. ‘Long story but I ended up in hospital.

‘Got home at 9pm and feeling much better today. I need to make some changes in order to feel better, both mentally and physically.’

She continued: ‘But it’s easy to forget to look after yourself when you’re juggling so much. Still, it’s given me a wake up call.’

In a separate update posted several hours later, Kate thanked her followers for their good wishes.

‘Thanks for all of your kind messages,’ she said next to a picture of her chipped manicure.

‘Honestly though, you should be more concerned about the state of my gel nails. One of which I picked off earlier on.’

Kate’s trip to the hospital comes after a candid interview on ITV’s Lorraine about her struggle with postnatal depression following the birth of her daughter Noa last year.

‘For a lot of those early newborn days, I was struggling every day,’ Kate the programme.

Explaining the moment where she had to put little Noa on the bed and walk away, Kate said: ‘That was the moment I hit rock bottom when I was in the deepest, darkest depths of postnatal depression.

‘I had terrible thoughts about what I might do to myself and Noa.’
