Kate Beckinsale has shared a touching tribute to her late father, Richard Beckinsale, on the 43rd anniversary of his death.
The actress, 48, was just five years old when her father died suddenly from a heart attack in 1979, at the age of 31.
She remembered the Porridge and Rising Damp actor on the anniversary of his death, sharing a series of sweet photographs together.
Kate wrote alongside it: ‘I don’t remember what not missing him feels like. It is part of me, like my blood. Always aware of how life can shatter.
‘May all the daddies, everywhere, come home safe. July 6 1947-March 19 1979. How much love you brought x.’
Richard was best known for playing prison inmate Lennie Godber in the 1970s BBC sitcom Porridge and Alan Moore in the ITV series Rising Damp.
As well as Kate, who he shared with wife Judy Loe, Richard also had an older daughter, Samantha, from his first marriage, though she and Kate are not thought to be in regular contact.
Fans flocked to the comments of Kate’s post to share their condolences, writing: ‘Such delicate wording from such a delicate soul, my heart goes out to you and the world observes that he raised a queen and she inspires other queens and he’s smiling down.’
Others added: ‘Beautiful pics kate, remember richard, love his shows great actor sadly missed, you take after him so much’ and ‘So young. Thinking of you darling… he would be so proud of you. Your wonderful (sic).’
Kate’s Instagram bio also references the loss of her father, reading: ‘“A fatherless girl thinks all things possible and nothing safe.” Mary Sarton c/o Gloria Vanderbilt.’
