Leonardo DiCaprio has made a rare Instagram post to advocate for victims of the war in Ukraine.

The 47-year-old actor has shared some snaps from a number of humanitarian organisations currently helping those affected by Russia’s ongoing invasion as he praised people working ‘on the ground’.

He wrote: ‘The victims of warfare in Ukraine have lost everything from their loved ones to basic materials for survival.

‘Humanitarian organizations like @SavetheChildren @careorg @IRC and @refugees are on the ground, dedicating their personnel and resources to support families and innocent people. (sic)’

Fans were glad to see the Titanic star speaking out, with many of them taking to the comments to share messages of support and gratitude.

One follower wrote: ‘Thank you for using your platform to help the people of Ukraine.’

And CARE organisation added: ‘Thank you for supporting Ukrainians in need.’

Meanwhile, DiCaprio’s fellow Hollywood superstars Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis have celebrated their Ukraine fundraiser hitting its $30 million (£22 million) target in just two weeks.

The actress – who was born in Ukraine before moving to the US as a child – and her husband launched a GoFundMe page earlier this month.

In a video shared on Instagram, they said: ‘We just wanted to say, we’ve hit our goal.

‘Over $30million dollars raised. Over 65,000 of you donated. We are overwhelmed with gratitude for your support.

‘And while this is far from solving the problem, our collective effort will provide a softer landing for so many people as they forge ahead into their future of uncertainty.’

Ashton then added: ‘Our work is not done. We’re going to make sure that the outpouring of love that came from you all as a part of this campaign finds the maximum impact with those in need.’

Mila continued: ‘We again want to say thank you so much for your continued support, please don’t stop donating whether to us or to other unbelievable foundations out there.

‘This is just a beginning to a very, very, very, very long journey.’
