Kate Garraway has revealed she spent a wholesome day gardening and baking for her father after having a ‘tough week’.

The Good Morning Britain presenter, 54, shared a snap of her sitting in the boot of a car surrounded by plants as her 87-year-old dad helped her shift the new purchases.

She told her followers that she’d bribed her father with some home-made apple crumble to help out with the planting, writing: ‘Everyone sings for their supper in my house!

‘Thanks to my Dads wonderful energy at 87 (I get my gardening passion from him) & a surprisingly capacious Peugeot 3008 boot, we are cracking on with some spring planting today.’

Kate joked: ‘It’s amazing what he’ll do for one of my apple crumbles!?!!’

Fans were over the moon to see the sweet snap, writing: ‘Enjoy Dad and daughter time Kate!..so precious’ and ‘Well done Dad, and well done for all you do Kate.’

Others added: ‘Like Father Like Daughter. Have a wonderful day,’ ‘how lovely xxx treasure him Kate won’t you’ and ‘What an amazing Dad you have.’

It comes after Kate, who cares for husband Derek Draper following his battle with Covid-19, revealed the family were having a ‘tough week’.

Sharing a photo fo her and daughter Darcey watching a Dirty Dancing stage show for her 16th birthday, she told her followers: ‘Well what a way to celebrate your 16th birthday Eve!! @ddonstage is THE best fun & we are both in love with Johnny.

‘And yes Darcey has already told me no one puts her in a corner! Just what the doctor ordered after a tough week. The season ends at Easter so if you get the chance to go do it!’

Kate has been caring for Derek at home since he was released from hospital over a year after being admitted with Covid-19 in March 2020.

He has been left with ongoing health issues and requires round-the-clock care, with Kate even flying him over to Mexico for specialist treatment in the hopes of improving his recovery.
