New comedy The Witchfinder is coming to BBC with new episodes each week.
The series promises plenty of laughs as the writers of Alan Partridge take us back to the 1940s.
Viewers will meet a witchfinder and his suspect as they travel through England at a time of civil war, famine and plague.
What is The Witchfinder about?
The new sitcom sees a failing witchfinder transporting a suspected witch across 1640s East Anglia to a trial that could change his fortunes forever.
However, his captive is the worst possible travel companion.
The witch is ‘an inquisitive, uncouth woman whose ability to prick his pomposity and ask uncomfortable questions turns a straightforward journey into a life-changing ordeal.’
The show is written and directed by Neil and Rob Gibbons and will be available either each Tuesday on BBC Two or, if you’re an eager beaver, on iPlayer as a boxset.
Who is in the cast of The Witchfinder?
The comedy features an exciting cast with Daisy May Cooper taking on the role of witch Thomasine Gooch.
The This Country actress will star alongside Tim Key – whom you might know as Alan Partridge’s sidekick from Mid Morning Matters – as the witchfinder himself, Gideon Bannister.
Jessica Hynes (The Royle Family) will take on the role of Old Myers while The Queen’s Gambit actor John Hollingworth will play Rafe.
Daniel Rigby (Eric and Ernie) will portray Hebble and Gangs of London star Yassine Anaddam will play Guard.
The Witchfinder airs tonight at 10pm on BBC Two and all episodes will be available on iPlayer.
