Red Nose Day 2022 is just around the corner – and this year it’s Comic Relief which is taking centre stage, bringing the laughs to us for a very good cause.

While the day of fundraising will see people getting up to all sorts of antics in the name of charity, the highlight of the day will be the annual Comic Relief telethon on BBC One.

As usual, it’ll be a star-studded event which will take over TV that night, with some exclusive sketches and must-see moments.

But when is Comic Relief, who is presenting – and what can you expect from the night itself?

When is Comic Relief on TV?

This year’s Comic Relief telethon will be on BBC One on Friday, March 18.

Although the start time has yet to be confirmed the live broadcast is likely to take up much of the evening on BBC One, as well as raise millions for the charity on the big night.

A number of other TV specials will also be airing in the run-up to the main event.

These will include Tom Daley’s Hell of A Homecoming, airing on Monday March 14 at 9pm- which sees the Olympic medallist complete 290 miles of rowing, swimming, cycling and running in aid of Comic Relief.

Meanwhile, a celebrity version of make-up contest Glow Up will also air on BBC Three (date tbc) – featuring Lady Leshurr, Nikki Lilly, Roman Kemp, Snoochie Shy and The Vivienne, along with a celebrity special of This Is My House, featuring Chris Eubank, Nina Wadia, Harry Hill and Claudia Winkleman, on March 16 at 8pm.

Radio 1 DJ Jordan North has also stepped up in aid of Comic Relief with a five-day rowing challenge between London and Burnley – and you can find out how he got on in Rowing Home With Jordan North, which airs on March 15 on BBC One at 8.30pm.

And for younger viewers, you can expect a week of new funny bedtime stories on CBeebies, airing from Monday 14 until Red Nose Day itself, March 18.

Who is presenting Comic Relief 2022?

This year’s Comic Relief hosts will be Sir Lenny Henry, Alesha Dixon, David Tennant and Zoe Ball.

‘What it really means is for all of us to unite and do something brilliant and support for those that need it,’ Sir Lenny said of the show.

‘The audience can expect more stars than you can shake a stick at, loads of passionate and exciting films demonstrating where the money goes and why. Plus music, laughter, great hosts including me, Zoe Ball, Paddy McGuinness, Alesha Dixon – and more…this is going to be huge!’

David Tennant added: ‘It’s one of those things that makes you proud to be British. The mix of being daft and being big-hearted seems to be something we do well. It’s always an honour and a joy to be involved.’

What else can you expect from Comic Relief 2022?

Dawn and Jennifer are uniting once more for their visit to The Repair Shop (Picture: PA)

The night itself will include such highlights as Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders reuniting for their take on The Repair Shop, David Walliams and Matt Lucas teaming up once again for the return of cult favourite Rock Profile, and Kylie Minogue joining forces with the cast of Ghosts for a special one-off sketch.

Other moments you won’t want to miss will include a Comic Relief QI special, as well as six celebrities honing their vocal skills as they learn to be opera singers in the return of Comic Opera.

Theatre lovers can look forward to a special musical performance from the cast of West End hit &Juliet, while the Mischief Theatre troupe will be on hand to bring Magic Goes Wrong to the screen.

And Strictly winners Rose Ayling-Ellis and Giovanni Pernice will take to the floor for a waltz live in the studio, to Ellie Goulding’s how Long Will I Love You.
