WWE legend William Regal is All Elite after making a shocking debut at AEW Revolution.

The British wrestling pioneer was released by Vince McMahon’s company two months ago as one of the more baffling cuts over the past couple of years, and he made his presence felt on Sunday night after Jon Moxley beat Bryan Danielson.

The two ex-WWE stars – whose story together goes way back to their days as Dean Ambrose and Daniel Bryan in battles between The Shield and Team Hell No – took the fight to each other in a fantastic match before Mox picked up the win.

Jon reversed a triangle choke into a pinfall with the American Dragon unable to get his shoulders up, but that wasn’t the end as both men continued to scrap after the bell.

After the referee called for help to break them up in vein, former NXT General Manager Regal stormed down the ramp to the delight of fans, slapping both me in the face and forcing them to shake hands.

They did, and the prospect of a faction led by the one-time King of the Ring winner is a fascinating one – particularly as Tony Khan was quick to confirm he is indeed All Elite after signing a deal with the promotion.

Elsewhere, ‘Hangman’ Adam Page retained the AEW World Title in a brilliant main event against Adam Cole, with interferences and near falls aplenty.

In the penultimate bout, Sammy Guervara, Darby Allin and Sting defeated Matt Hardy, Isiah Kassidy and Andrade El Idolo in a wild tornado tag match, which even saw the WCW icon jump off a balcony in the arena and crashing through a table below.

In another of the night’s featured matches, CM Punk – who turned back the clock with his AFI theme music – used the diamond ring to put away MJF in a bloody Dog Collar Match after Wardlow turned on the villain and presented the former world champ with the weapon.

At the top of the show, Eddie Kingston beat Chris Jericho in a cracking match, but the veteran refused to shake the winner’s hand after the bell.

Jurassic Express continued to roll as they retained the AEW World Tag Team Titles against reDRagon and The Young Bucks, while Wardlow – before his involvement in the Dog Collar Match – won the Face of the Revolution Ladder Match to earn a future TNT Title shot.

He overcame Keith Lee, Orange Cassidy, Powerhouse Hobbs, Christian Cage and Ricky Starks to claim the brass ring.

Fans also saw the debut of Shane Strickland – FKA Isiah ‘Swerve’ Scott in WWE – as he came out and confirmed he is All Elite.

Jade Cargill successfully defended her TBS Championship against Tay Conti, and sealed her victory with a kiss as they stood face to face once the match was over, while Britt Baker held onto her own AEW Women’s World Title against challenger Thunder Rosa.
