ISLAMABAD: A significant headway was made in the Karak temple attack case on Monday when Advocate General KPK informed the Supreme Court that the reconstruction of the damaged temple has been completed.
A three-member bench of Supreme Court is conducting the hearing of the suo moto notice against the burning of karak temple.
“We are recovering the money from the accused who were involved in the temple attack,” Advocate General KPK told the court here. “The damaged building of the temple has been restored but full renovation will take time. Out of the 123 accused, 23 have paid the penalty fine which amounts to Rs 3.2 million and it has been deposited with the national exchequer,”he said.
The CJ then remarked that people living around Karak Temple are facing severe drinking water issueand a new pipeline should be laid down to resolve the problem. “The sewerage system also need to be fixed there,” he added.
Later the court adjourned the hearing. It must be mentioned here that according to an estimate, the complete renovation of the temple will cost more than Rs 34 million.
Earlier the court had ordered to equally divide Rs 34 million which are to be fetched from the accused for the renovation of temple. The court further said that the temple be rebuilt within one month’s time.
