Yungblud has addressed the calls for him to take over from Harry Styles playing Boy George in an upcoming biopic.

Former One Direction singer Harry was said to be in the running to play Culture Club star Boy George in a film about his life.

However, he’s no longer in the race and Boy George has personally named Yungblud, real name Dominic Richard Harrison, as a fitting option.

Speaking to Metro.co.uk at the MTV EMAs 2021 about receiving a blessing from the man himself, Yungblud said simply: ‘There are f*****g rumours, I would love to do it. Let’s see, let’s go!’

In the meantime, Yungblud is working on a short film of his song Mars which focuses on a young boy’s transgender journey.

He said of the project: ‘I literally wanted to produce this film because I met some incredible artists.

‘At the end of the day this production is going to be more diverse, more authentic than I think anybody’s doing in TV and film right now and there is no excuse at all – it’s going to be mandatory that you pronounce people’s pronouns right, you can have an inclusive diverse cast from everybody and we’re just going to go for it and get it done.

‘I can’t wait for you to f*****g see it. The writer to the director to the crew, it’s going to be f*****g incredible.’

The 2021 MTV EMAs will broadcast on MTV UK on Sunday, November 14, at 9pm GMT and on Channel 5 at 11pm GMT.
