OIC envoy for Jammu and Kashmir briefed on ‘security situation’ at LoC

Military officials deployed at the Line of Control (LoC) on Tuesday briefed the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation’s (OIC) Special Envoy for Jammu and Kashmir, Yousef Aldobeay on the latest security situation at the flashpoint, said the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The military’s media wing shared that Ambassador Aldobeay and OIC Assistant Secretary General Tariq Ali Bakheet visited Chirikot Sector of the LOC along with a high-level delegation. The group included five senior diplomats from Muslim countries including Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Sudan and the Maldives.

“The delegation was briefed on latest security situation along LOC and situation before and after the Director Generals of Military Operations (DGsMO) understanding,” read the statement. The delegation was also given a briefing on the “humanitarian crisis” in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and the atrocities being committed by India in the disputed territory.

During the visit, the ambassadors also interacted with the victims of India’s unprovoked ceasefire violations at the LoC.

After the visit, the delegation arrived at Muzaffarabad where they met Azad Jammu and Kashmir President.

The ISPR said that the delegates will visit refugee camps and vocational training centres on Thursday. Later in the day, the envoys will meet United Nations Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP) in Muzaffarabad.

“Delegation will also meet with AJK prime minister and representatives of various political parties in AJK parliament,” concluded the statement.
