Will Smith has opened up about the moment he turned to ayahuasca after splitting from his wife Jada Pinkett Smith in 2011.

The Hollywood superstar has revealed all in his newly-released memoir, Will, and he wrote candidly about turning to drugs and a tantric sex expert after his wife mocked his need to play the ‘perfect husband’.

According to The New York Post, the 53-year-old actor described visiting a shaman to give him the psychotropic tea and led him through the visions it produced.

‘I was floating deep in outer space… I was trillions of light-years away from earth,’ Smith wrote.

During his trip, he sensed an ‘unseeable woman’ – who he came to call ‘Mother- behind him as the Bad Boys actor: ‘I can tell she’ll never leave me.’

The Hitch actor revealed that his trip helped him reach a surprising conclusion as he thought at the time: ‘If I’m this beautiful, I don’t need #1 movies to feel good about myself.

‘If I’m this beautiful, I don’t need hit records to feel worthy of love. If I’m this beautiful, I don’t need Jada or anyone else to validate me.’

The I Am Legend actor ended up tripping 13 more times and stated that ‘Mother’ visited him during eight of them.

The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air star explained his temporary split from Jada came after a birthday party he threw for her 40th birthday party.

Though Will thought he was being the ‘perfect husband’, Jada labeled the bash as ‘the most disgusting display of ego I have ever seen in my life’.

The couple’s fight led Will to declare that he had ‘retired’ from trying to make his wife – who her married in 1997 – happy, and the couple agreed to take time apart in their marriage – but didn’t want to get divorced.

After this incident, Smith said that he visited Trinidad where he met counselor Michaela Boehm, who specializes in tantric sexuality.

When the expert asked what would make the actor happy, he explained that he would ‘love a harem’ of women.

Will was shy to explore the thoughts further, but eventually played along and named a list of 25 women including Halle Berry and ballerina Misty Copeland.

Will and Jada’s nontraditional marriage became a hot topic of conversation after Jada, 50, admitted to a prior sexual relationship with August Alsina while married to Will, 53.

The Men in Black star also confessed to being unfaithful too, leading to speculation about the pair – who married in 1997 – having an open relationship.
