*Warning: Contains spoilers for episode 5 of Angela Black*

One of the most absorbing series returned to our screens tonight, with the penultimate episode of Angela Black airing on ITV.

The Joanne Froggatt series really kicked things up a notch during Sunday’s show, and we have more questions than ever.

After a stint inside a psychiatric institute last week, Angela spent the episode attempting to learn the truth about Ed (or is his name Theo?) and taking on Olivier in a bitter custody battle.

There are still so many things we need to know after another intriguing episode– here are the five biggest questions we have after episode five.

Will Ed’s (or Theo) part in all of this be revealed to the police?

All was revealed on Sunday (Picture: Jon Hall)

Ed, of course, is the missing piece of jigsaw, and his real identity the key to all of this. And the truth was revealed on Sunday.

After finding him at the end of episode four, Angela discovered that his real name is Theo. Some snooping online saw her track him down to a beauty parlour called Diva – where she met his ‘ex’ who spilled the beans on him. ‘Avoid Theo Walters,’ the nail technician warned her.

As it turns out, he was a ‘massive weirdo’ who had major money problems. She called him a ‘nutter’ and hinted that he burned down his business for the insurance money on the same night Olivier’s clothes were covered in petrol.

Finally, Theo got in touch and agreed to meet her at the pub they first encountered each other on Halloween – but he never showed, and he warned her to ‘drop it’.

We later learned that Theo is operating with Olivier, but will Angele be able to prove it?

Will Angela be able to prove the conspiracy?

The plot thickened in episode five (Picture: ITV)

‘She won’t be able to prove anything,’ Theo said right at the end of the episode – but could he be right?

Olivier all but admitted his involvement in a conspiracy with Theo at the end of Sunday’s show, confessing to burning down the business and saying he ‘did what he had to do’.

He attacked her on the doorstep, and phoned Theo – confirming the viewers’ suspicions.

But even though we know that the whole thing was cooked up to weaken Angela’s custody battle and drive a wedge between her and her children, will anyone believe the truth?

Will Angela ever get custody of her kids?

The episode saw the custody battle between Angela and Olivier take another turn, as he looked to exploit the situation and have the kids taken away from her for good.

The events of Edgewater are likely to play against her, and it could mean she is estranged from her boys against her will – even if viewers know the reality of Olivier’s abusive, manipulative personality.

Will the grand plot being orchestrated by Olivier be revealed? And will Angela get to be with her children?

Why is she calling on this friend, and why now?

We learned in episode five that Angela pushed her friend Gwen away a long time ago after convincing herself that she was attracted to Olivier.

After not speaking to her for more than eight years, she decided to give her a call and even asked if she could stay in her spare room.

But why call her now? And why is her friend so accommodating after being mistreated by her? At this stage we’re suspicious of everything, including her newly-announced relationship with Gwen.

What really happened to Yuki?

One loose piece of thread still hanging over the programme is Yuki. Theo, when he was posing as Ed in earlier episodes, said that Olivier had Yuki killed as a way of covering up their extramarital affair.

If the truth (if it really is the truth) gets out, it will change everything. But did Olivier really kill her? And if he did, will it be revealed?

Angela Black continues on Sunday at 9pm on ITV.
