Rosie Jones told fans on social media she was supported by the audience during a recording for her Radio 4 show after she was very rudely interrupted.

The much-loved comedian and actress – who has cerebral palsy – is a panel show favourite and led The Last Leg’s coverage of the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.

More recently, she spoke for millions as she criticised the PM on Question Time and tirelessly campaigns for more access for disabled people.

But Rosie told fans on Sunday about something no one wants to experience while trying to get through a radio recording, in which she was heckled.

She explained on her Twitter account: ‘During a recording of my Radio 4 series today, I was interrupted by a drunk, angry heckler.

‘This tweet is about the 50 other audience members and bar staff who supported me and got her to (eventually) leave.’

Rosie did turn the situation into a positive though, adding: ‘For every t**t in the world, there’s 50 absolute legends. Remember that.’

Fans quickly reacted to the incident in her replies, with one sharing: ‘Sorry this happened to you Rosie. The people who helped you are superheroes without the capes. Sending you all the love in the world. You are a legend! #MuchLove.’

‘How peculiar too – I would never feel angry watching you even if I was drunk! Very well said and good to hear they were all on your side,’ added another.

A third fan echoed: ‘Really important message that Rosie, negatives into HUGE positives.’

It comes after Rosie was previously subject to a torrent of online abuse following an appearance on BBC’s Question Time.

Speaking on the panel, she offered up a fantastic critique of Boris Johnson’s Conservative Party conference and said the Prime Minister spoke a lot but ‘I didn’t hear anything.’

Despite the support she received on the show, where she was met with a round of applause, Rosie was horrendous abuse on social media.

Responding to some of the words thrown in her direction, she said: ‘The sad thing is that I’m not surprised at the ableist abuse I’ve received tonight regarding my appearance on Question Time.

‘It’s indicative of the country we live in right now. I will keep on speaking up, in my wonderful voice, for what I believe in.’
