Shirley Ballas has shared a health update with fans following a visit to the doctor, after fans spotted a lump in her arm.

The Strictly Come Dancing judge sparked concern during a recent episode of the BBC competition, as viewers noticed a visible lump when she raised her arm at one point.

Taking to Instagram, the 61-year-old explained that she went to get herself checked out, and will be going to the hospital later this week for further tests.

‘Lump and Body MOT for women,’ she wrote beside a video on her page. ‘Dear All thank you so much for making me aware of a lump you all saw under my arm. I am so grateful to have so many beautiful kind caring humans looking out for me.

‘I will be popping to the hospital Friday for full blood work, hormones could be the reason for exhaustion, sleepless nights and a few more things going on.

‘I’m so happy I went for a check up today. Ladies let me know how your hormones are? Do you self check? Hugs to all #breastcheck #hormones.’

In the video, the professional dancer explained that she went for a check-up, but the doctor ‘couldn’t feel anything’.

‘I popped to the doctor this morning. She did an underarm test and breast test,’ she said. ‘She couldn’t feel anything although she also thought that she saw something when I lifted my arm up so… maybe it was cameras, lighting, not sure.

‘What we did discover was that my hormone levels are all over the place. My testosterone is that of men and my estradiol is zero.’

Shirley ended the short clip by explaining that her hospital appointment is on Friday, and thanked fans for their help.

The BBC star has a history of cancer in her family and has had two scares herself, with the most recent one coming just a few months ago when she found a lump in her shoulder.

Discussing the health scare at the time, she said: ‘It’s something between two bones and they are not really sure what it is yet.

‘They have done the dye and the MRIs plus this and that. I get the results in a few weeks.

‘The gentleman seems to think it will be fine but, still, it is worrying.’

Shirley’s mum Audrey was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2019 as well as her grandmother and aunt.
