PM Imran Khan reviewed the progress in Gilgit Baltistan

Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday directed the authorities to provide internet connectivity to Gilgit-Baltistan at the earliest.

According to the premier’s office, Prime Minister Imran Khan issued the orders in a meeting held to review the progress of the integrated development plan for Gilgit-Baltistan.

“We are focused on accelerating the pace of work on various development projects in Gilgit Baltistan by taking effective measures to ensure delegation of administrative and financial powers,” said PM Imran.

The PM directed the officials to all “legal and procedural hiccups” to facilitate the people of Gilgit Baltistan who have to travel to Islamabad to resolve their issues. He also directed to provide internet connectivity to the area at the earliest to provide better communication facilities to the local population.

Earlier, the PM was briefed that the implementation has started on a historic five-year development package for GB, announced by the incumbent government earlier this year.

Under the package, Rs 370 billion would be released to GB for various development projects till FY 2025-26.

The meeting was attended by federal ministers Hammad Azhar, Ali Amin Gandapur, Amin-ul-Haque, Dr Farogh Naseem, SAPM Dr Shahbaz Gill and Chief Minister Gilgit Baltistan Khalid Khursheed and senior officers.
