Great British Bake Off’s Rochica is the latest contestant to be eliminated from the 2021 series after failing to rise during Bread Week.
Judges Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood opted to axe the 27-year-old after she presented them with underbaked breadsticks in the technical.
Speaking to the camera after the news was announced, Rochica said: ‘I have really, really enjoyed it and not everybody gets to bake in the Bake Off tent so I’m proud of where I’ve got to.’
In tonight’s episode, the 10 remaining bakers stepped into the tent where they faced creating a crispy and airy focaccia with any topping of their choosing for the signature.
The technical challenge saw the contestants tasked with producing 12 ciabatta breadsticks. While some delivered undercooked snacks, Giuseppe’s batch rose to the top and earned him first place.
Next time, it’s dessert week and the bakers face a sticky toffee technical and a multi-layered jacquard showstopper.
