Succession fans are gearing up for the upcoming third season of the hit show, and judging by recent comments from creator Jesse Armstrong they should savour it while they still can.
The writer said that the series ‘can’t go on too long’ as he considered the future of the drama.
Succession follows Brian Cox’s media mogul Logan Roy as members of his family vie to be named his successor – but could the end already be in sight?
Speaking to the New Statesman, Jessie suggested that fans shouldn’t expect the drama to run and run.
‘There’s going to be a very definite moment when that story is over, and it can’t go on too long,’ he said.
‘I think there’ll be an end for me in this incarnation of the show in… a bit,’ he added cryptically.
Does that mean that season three could be the last ever series of the drama? Only time will tell.
There is hope for further seasons though, after executive producer Georgia Pritchett previously said ‘the maximum would be five seasons, but possibly more like four’
It comes after a new trailer for Succession season three was released, showing Logan on a mission for revenge following the bombshell dropped by his son Kendall Roy (Jeremy Strong).
At the end of Succession season 2, Kendall decided to do the unthinkable – rather than take the fall for his family’s company Waystar Royco, he instead publicly denounced his own father, calling his father a liar and setting off a huge conflict within the family.
The new clip suggests that the battle is going to heat up in the episodes to come, as Kendall and Logan face the aftermath of their public fallout.
Succession season 3 will be available from Monday 18 October on Sky Atlantic and streaming service NOW.
