An intriguing new drama is set to arrive on our screens this evening, with four-part series Hollington Drive beginning on ITV.

There are a host of familiar faces in the cast and a compelling, but dark storyline which promises to keep us hooked over the next month.

The series focuses on two sisters who find their lives unravelling after the disappearance of a neighbour’s child.

A synopsis for the series reads: ‘On a Summer evening in the seemingly idyllic suburb of Hollington Drive, 10-year-old Alex Boyd is declared missing. Sisters and social pillars within the community, Theresa and Helen, struggle to hold their lives and their families together in the wake of this tragedy.

‘Secrets and lies begin to surface and long held facades falter as grief rips through Hollington Drive.’

Here’s everything you need to know.

Anna Maxwell Martin is heading up the cast as Theresa, who finds herself at the centre of the drama as Alex goes missing after playing with her son Ben – who she starts to believe could know more than he is letting on.

Anna is well known for her roles as Julia in Motherland and the copper we all love to hate, Patricia Carmichael from Line of Duty.

She’s joined in the cast by Detectorists star Rachael Stirling and Finding Alice’s Rhashan Stone.

Peter McDonald, Jonas Armstrong, Jodie McNee, Ken Nwosu and Amelie Bea Smith, Fraser Holmes and Tia May Watts also appear.

The series, which was filmed in Wales earlier this year, is not based on a novel. Instead it is the creation of screenwriter Sophie Petzal who previously wrote the Adrian Dunbar drama Blood.

Speaking about the series, she said: ‘Hopefully this is a drama that’s neither bleak nor straightforward. There are twists and turns and it goes off in a direction you don’t expect. It’s quite quirky and it has an incredible cast giving nuanced performances.

‘I love writing dilemmas, and if you’re compelled by watching people making impossible choices, then hopefully this is something you’ll want to watch.’

She added: ‘There’s a big decision early on that impacts on everybody, and on the characters’ relationships as we watch it unfold.’

The series arrives tonight and will continue on Wednesday nights at 9pm.

Hollington Drive airs tonight (September 29) at 9pm on ITV.
