Piers Morgan has given his review of Daniel Craig’s rather fabulous raspberry pink jacket from the No Time To Die premiere, and it’s safe to say he’s not impressed with the ‘garish’ garment.

For his final red carpet outing as 007, Daniel, 53, went against the grain and swapped a regular black tux for a thick, velvet, deep pink double-breasted dinner jacket by Savile Row tailor Anderson & Sheppard, teamed with black trousers, a white shirt, and bow tie.

His suave and colourful look really caught the eye at a premiere laden with fashion highs (hello to Kate Middleton’s epic golden Jenny Packham number), and was praised across the board by the fashion elite, with GQ among those hailing the outgoing James Bond.

But former Good Morning Britain host Piers, 56, made it clear the look was not for him, comparing Daniel to 1990s film legend Austin Powers.

‘O dear O (7) dear. James Bond would never wear a garish pink suede dinner jacket,’ he opined on Twitter.

‘You’re supposed to be a steely-eyed assassin with exemplary sartorial taste, Mr Craig…. not an Austin Powers tribute act. Thumbs down.’

Someone needs to tell Mr Morgan that brightly coloured jackets are a real power statement in 2021… and that Daniel isn’t actually an assassin himself, so his argument has fallen apart at the seams.

Also, Austin Powers was definitely a 1990s fashion icon, so not sure what point he was trying to make there.

Elsewhere, Piers’ former GMB co-star Alex Beresford had the opposite view, tweeting a short while later: ‘Aside from Daniel Craig clashing with the red carpet what are your thoughts on this statement jacket? Personally I love pink.’

Yes, Alex. Yes!

This isn’t the first time Piers has taken aim at Hollywood star Daniel. Remember the whole papoose incident?

In case you blocked it from your memory, in 2018 Piers launched a tirade against the actor, questioning his masculinity for carrying his baby daughter on his front in a garment known as a papoose.

He tweeted at the time: ‘Oh 007.. not you as well?!!! #papoose #emasculatedBond.’

His social media post garnered plenty of backlash, with even Avengers star Chris Evans firing back at him, as well as his then-GMB co-host Susanna Reid.

‘You really have to be so uncertain of your own masculinity to concern yourself with how another man carries his child,’ Chris wrote.

‘Any man who wastes time quantifying masculinity is terrified on the inside.’

While Daniel’s fetching ensemble was one of the main talking points from the premiere, focus has now shifted to the film itself.

No Time To Die is the 25th film in the Bond franchise and Daniel’s last outing as the super spy.

The star-studded premiere at London’s Royal Albert Hall saw the likes of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge walk the red carpet alongside some of the film’s stars including Naomie Harris, Lashana Lynch, Ana de Armas and Rami Malek.

No Time To Die is in cinemas September 30.
