Pakistan U19 cruised to a dominant nine-wicket victory over Bangladesh U19 in the first one-day match of the five-match series at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram on Saturday. Amir Hassan’s five-wicket haul and Shahzaib Khan and Azan Awais’ half-centuries were the highlights of the match.
After Pakistan U19 won the toss and chose to bowl first, Amir Hassan’s superb spell of fast bowling, which included five wickets, restricted Bangladesh U19 to 165-9 in their 50 overs. Mahfuzur Rahman Rabby was the only notable run-getter for the hosts with his unbeaten 70 off 100 balls.
In response, Pakistan U19’s opening pair of Shahzaib Khan and Azan Awais made a solid start and put on a magnificent partnership of 148 runs for the first wicket, setting up the win for their team. Shahzaib was named player of the match in the four-day match last week and continued his impressive form with a brilliant knock of 83 off 116 deliveries, including seven fours and three sixes. Azan remained unbeaten on 69 off 99 balls, hitting six fours and a six, as Pakistan U19 reached the target in the 38th over with nine wickets in hand.
