Ahead of the first Test match between Pakistan and England in Rawalpindi, which begins on December 1, at least 14 members of the England team have contracted a virus.

Around eight players are among the squad members who have been affected by the virus, as reported by BBC.

On the eve of the first Test against Pakistan in Rawalpindi, the England team, including captain Ben Stokes, has been infected with a virus, according to a British broadcaster.

Only five of the 16 players on the playing squad participated in an optional training session on Wednesday, and another 14 traveling players and coaches were advised to rest at the hotel.

The number of individuals who have contracted a viral disease was not mentioned in a statement by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB).

However, only Harry Brook, Zak Crawley, Keaton Jennings, Ollie Pope, and Joe Root, was showed up for optional training.

All-rounder Liam Livingstone will play in his maiden Test match, while Ben Duckett will make his first appearance in the team since 2016 and will open the batting alongside Zak Crawley.

The prospect of delaying the first Test is reportedly being discussed by PCB and the ECB, according to reports.

A final decision will be made after the players’ availability is determined by the England doctor’s evaluation, according to officials with knowledge of the development.

Following the first match in Rawalpindi, the second Test will be played in Multan beginning on Friday, December 9, and the last Test of the trip will begin on Saturday, December 17 at the National Stadium in Karachi.
