Under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, “UAE Codes” events, marked on 29th October every year to celebrate coding and utilising technology, will be launched on Saturday, with more than 70 events, organised by 50 government and private entities, across the UAE.
The “UAE Codes” Day was announced last year on 29th October, which coincides the day His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid launched the first e-government in the region, two decades ago in 2001, aiming to shed light on talents and expertise in digital systems, celebrating their achievements in the areas of digitisation, and achieving the objectives of the UAE digital economy strategy.
Omar bin Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications, stressed that the proactive thinking of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum is the corner-stone in enhancing the UAE’s ranking as a future pioneer and a global platform building capabilities and empowering youth with future tools and technology solutions.
Al Olama explained that “UAE Codes Day” consolidates the first digital achievement in the UAE. It celebrates technological achievements and anticipates future developments by motivating youth in utilising coding and AI technologies in future projects, enhancing their capabilities, and supporting their talents to design a better future.
The “UAE Codes” Day will witness more than 70 events organised by about 50 federal, government and private entities across the UAE, including meetings, workshops, competitions, hackathons, and various events. This day, represents an opportunity for individuals, institutions, governments, and private entities in the UAE to activate coding initiatives, innovate new ideas to support coding concepts, spread the primary role of coding in facilitating life, developing the world, and accelerating the world’s journey to the future.
The “UAE Codes” Day focuses on promoting the initiatives of coding community and providing an effective platform for coders to exchange experiences, knowledge, and coding skills to create a digital economy based on innovation and modern technology and build their coding capabilities and AI technology.
This day reflects the UAE leaders’ mindset and visions in enhancing the global ranking and status of the country to reach comprehensive digital transformation. It also reflects the efforts of the National Programme for Coders to help talented coders develop their coding journey and enhance their readiness to innovate in the future.
