Arsenal’s move for Fabio Vieira will not affect their pursuit of Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans this summer.
The Gunners have agreed a £30million deal plus £4milllion in add-ons to bring Vieira to the Emirates in a shock transfer move that emerged on Thursday.
The Porto attacking midfielder has agreed a five-year deal and has flown into London where he is expected to undergo a medical today.
He will become Arsenal’s third signing of the summmer following the deal for Brazilian youngster Marquinhos with the club also growing confident of wrapping up a move for Manchester City forward Gabriel Jesus, who is eager to join the north London side.
Arsenal will also step up their pursuit of Tielemans despite the arrival of Vieira, according to the Evening Standard.
Tielemans has one year left on his current deal at the King Power Stadium and despite initially expressing a desire to play in the Champions League, Arsenal are still said to be confident of agreeing a deal with the player.
The Belgium international plays in a deeper midfield role than Vieira, who predominantly took up aa no8 or a no10 role for Porto.
Arsenal expect to conclude a £25million deal with Tielemans’ international commitments with Belgium now over for the summer.
Arsenal have been in talks with the former Monaco star since January and are in pole position to sign a player who has also been interesting the likes of Tottenham and Liverpool.
