West Ham United are set to make their first signing of the summer transfer window, with Rennes defender Nayef Aguerd in London for a medical ahead of a move worth at least £20m.
The 26-year-old has been with Rennes since 2020, making 66 Ligue 1 appearances as a regular in the first team for two seasons, scoring five goals from centre-back.
His performances have caught the eye in the Premier League and West Ham are ready to take the gamble on the Morocco international.
The Evening Standard report that Aguerd could be unveiled as a Hammer by the end of the week after travelling to London for his medical and the deal will be an initial fee of at least £20m, which could significantly increase with add-ons.
The left-footed centre-back will solve that particular problem West Ham had during this transfer window, with manager David Moyes keen to fill that hole in his squad.
The report also states that the Hammers are willing to listen to offers for Issa Diop, who has dramatically fallen out of favour over the last two seasons.
The 25-year-old had been linked with a big money move to Manchester United after an impressive first two seasons with West Ham, but has since struggled to hold down a place in the first team and made just 10 Premier League starts last campaign.
