Arsenal have dropped a huge hint that Eddie Nketiah will be extending his stay at the north London club by signing a new deal.
The Gunners academy graduate had looked destined to leave upon the expiry of his current contract at the end of June after struggling for regular playing time.
However, Nketiah produced a string of impressive goalscoring performances towards the end of the 2021/22 campaign and has seemingly made a U-turn on his future.
Reports suggest the 23-year-old has been convinced to stay at the club and is set to sign a new five-year deal.
And Nketiah has been pictured in a social media post promoting Arsenal’s friendly match against Nurnberg on July 8, despite the fact his current contract would’ve expired by then.
Meanwhile, Alexandre Lacazette’s return to former club Lyon has been confirmed following the news of the striker’s departure from the Emirates Stadium.
Mikel Arteta is now light on options up front, meaning signing a centre-forward in the summer transfer window will be a priority.
Gabriel Jesus of Manchester City has been strongly linked with Arsenal having worked with Pep Guardiola’s former assistant Arteta at the Etihad Stadium.
The Brazilian striker scored eight goals in England’s top flight last season as City beat Liverpool to the Premier League title.
