Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford has turned down the chance to sign for Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

The 24-year-old was out of sorts last season, scoring just five goals in all competitions as he lost his place as a regular starter.

He has just one year left on his contract and has been linked with a move away from Old Trafford in a bid to re-launch his career.

However, according to The Times, Rashford has snubbed interest from Spurs as he wants to stay at United and impress Erik ten Hag ahead of next season.

Although he has battled injuries and suffered with a loss of form, Rashford’s age and home-grown status makes him an attractive signing.

In the two seasons prior to the last campaign, he scored 43 goals in 101 appearances.

United will be happy to keep hold of their academy graduate, with the likes of Edinson Cavani and Jesse Lingard having already left the club.

The Red Devils are short of central strikers – with just Cristiano Ronaldo to choose from – and Rashford can cover in an emergency.

The Englishman was one of a host of stars crticised for his performances last season as United finished sixth in the Premier League and without a trophy for a fifth straight campaign.

The club’s record goalscorer Wayne Rooney questioned Rashford’s attitude and urged him to turn his United career around.

Speaking to The Sun, he said: ‘To get the record and be United’s highest goal scorer is f***ing massive.

‘What I hope is that Marcus Rashford f***ing gets his head out of his a*** and goes and breaks that record. He is a Manchester lad.’
