Dubai Police Launches ‘Rescue Heroes Challenge’ for Students

Lieutenant General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, witnessed the launch of the first edition of the ‘Rescue Heroes Challenge’ at the General Department of Transport and Rescue.

The first day of the two-day event was also attended by Major General Abdullah Ali Al Ghaithi, Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Operations Affairs, Major General Saeed Hamad bin Suleiman, Director of the General Department of Transport and Rescue, his deputy, Brigadier Juma bin Darwish Al Falasi, and several senior officers.

The Challenge is part of Dubai Police‘s ongoing efforts to involve school students in rescue operations in a fun and competitive way to strengthen their communication and collaboration skills with security and law enforcement agencies. Furthermore, it aims to identify and cultivate young talents, forming a team of exceptional individuals who can later, as adults, volunteer in rescue operations.

On the first day of the Challenge, 25 participants formed five teams and engaged in fierce competition, striving for superior performance and record-breaking achievements. The teams battled it out for the prestigious ‘Rescue Heroes‘ title.

Lt. Gen. Al Marri reaffirmed Dubai Police‘s dedication to organising sporting, community, and cultural events with a security and law enforcement focus, engaging individuals of all age groups to enhance safety and security and promote community happiness. He highlighted that such initiatives and programs foster effective communication between the police and the community.

Meanwhile, Major General Saeed Hamad bin Suleiman said that the Rescue Heroes Challenge came as per the directives of the Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police to create a competitive platform among school students specifically focused on rescue operations, which has a positive impact on the students themselves. He emphasised that the Challenge offers participants valuable opportunities to demonstrate their skills and creativity.

Furthermore, he highlighted Dubai Police‘s commitment to fulfilling its societal role through a wide range of purposeful events, activities, and programs that contribute to fostering a healthy, social, sporting, and cultural environment.

Bin Suleiman explained that the competitions included a wide range of activities, such as wearing rappelling gear, participating in knot-tying challenges, engaging in running challenges (container climbing), demonstrating rope pulling skills, transporting dolls using ropes, performing rappelling operations, lifting heavy objects using inflatable lifting cushions, navigating through mazes, and car pulling Challenge utilising a pulley system.

The participants expressed gratitude to the Dubai Police for organising such a challenge, acknowledging its significance in honing their rescue skills and abilities. They also viewed it as a valuable opportunity to gain deeper insights into the operations of Dubai Police’s rescue teams and their approach to managing various incidents.
