A workshop featuring the ancient art of fresco painting on plaster was on offer at the Sharjah
Children’s Reading Festival, providing a creative and immersive experience for budding artists.
The workshop aimed to introduce children to the rich history and techniques of fresco painting,
which has been practised for centuries.
Expert instructors led the workshop, providing step-by-step guidance on the process of creating
a fresco painting on plaster. The children were introduced to the different types of plaster and
pigments used in fresco painting, and learned about the proper application techniques required
to achieve beautiful and long-lasting results.
The children were fascinated as they watched the plaster dry and harden into a smooth surface,
ready for painting. They experimented with blending different colours to create their own unique
hues and shades, and carefully applied the paint to the plaster, creating intricate designs and
patterns.
Throughout the engaging workshop, the children were encouraged to express their creativity
and experiment with different techniques. They were given the freedom to create their own
designs, resulting in a wide variety of vibrant landscapes, detailed portraits, and abstract
patterns.
The workshop not only provided a platform for the children to express their creativity but also
ensured they left with a newfound appreciation for fresco painting and a sense of
accomplishment for creating their own beautiful works of art. By dedicating a painting space
during the festival, the SCRF has nurtured the talent of children of all ages and skill levels in
painting and visual arts, allowing them to explore and create their own unique masterpieces.
