Ministry of Defence hosts second edition of UAE Worthiness and Safety Conference

Under the patronage of Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Bowardi, Minister of State for Defence Affairs, the Ministry of Defence today held the second UAE Worthiness and Safety Conference, as part of the 7th Naval Defence and Maritime Security Exhibition (NAVDEX) and the 16th International Defence Exhibition and Conference (IDEX), held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC).

The two-day conference was inaugurated by Major General Salem Saeed Al Shamsi, Commander of the National Defence College, and is being attended by official delegations from friendly countries, as well as senior officers from the Ministry of Defence, specialists and experts in worthiness and safety.

The second edition of the conference aims to provide an ideal platform for dialogue and the exchange of knowledge and expertise and gathers a wide range of relevant experts who will discuss the current trends in worthiness and safety areas.

It also aims to improve the cooperation between military and civil institutions and highlight successful practices, to enhance the quality of safety initiatives and protect the lives of Ministry of Defence recruits from potential risks, as well as share ideas about safety and promote self-protection awareness.

The conference focuses on topics related to land and maritime worthiness and safety and involves a series of lectures and workshops, which represent a distinguished opportunity for their participants to benefit from the opinions and expertise of relevant specialists.

The event is also in line with the UAE’s vision to enhance its cooperation with the international community and represents an ideal platform for exploring recent developments in the areas of worthiness and safety.

Brigadier General Mohamed Abdulla Al Nuaimi, Director General of Fire Prevention & Safety Affairs General Directorate at the UAE Ministry of Interior, presented a paper titled ‘’ UAE Fire & Life Safety Code of Practice’’.

William Johanson Langton, Registrar of Shipping & Principal Inspector in the Defence at the UK Ministry of Defence, spoke about “The Uk’s Approach to the Classification of Military Shipping’’.
